PCA180: Polarity Therapy and Energetic Ethics (Extended)

Polarity Therapy 

Students will demonstrate beginning understanding of the principles of Polarity Therapy as pertaining to bodywork and self-care. Students will identify energetic anatomy, perform self assessments of grounding and neutrality, describe energy flows they are working with using the language of Polarity Therapy, and perform simple Polarity techniques. Students will perform Polarity Yoga exercises. Students will demonstrate proper body mechanics while applying techniques learned. Students will be able to incorporate skills learned in class into their own bodywork practice.  

Energetic Ethics 

As bodywork practitioners, we need to be very clear about where we end and our client begins, not only physically/mentally/emotionally, but especially in our energetic fields. The more a practitioner can become aware of their own energy, and the more they can develop good habits of self-awareness, the better practitioner they can become. In this class, students will explore how to sense and palpate energetic fields surrounding bodies, become more aware of their own energies, and how to adjust their therapeutic presence for a variety of clients and situations. Students will show understanding of interpersonal boundaries, energetic boundaries, grounding, and energetic anatomy; develop personal strategies for grounded, neutral, and nonjudgmental therapeutic interactions with clients; and develop personal self-care regimens. Students will be able to incorporate skills learned in class into their practice of massage therapy.
