Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) can be mild, moderate, or severe, depending on the extent of the damage to the brain. The integrated use of Clinical Integrative Reflexology and CranioSacral in post-bout care for Boxers provides a safe, gentle and powerful way to protect, promote and restore brain health. Particularly since mild TBI can go undetected, the normalization of standards of these Therapies in post-bout care is essential to enhancing long term health and safety in contact sport.  This presentation offers an overview with a demonstration, protocols and guidelines.

Treating Alzheimer's and Dementia with CranioSacral

Michael Morgan's entire practice is focused on Alzheimer's and Dementia via CranioSacral. After experiencing firsthand the effects of Alzheimer’s and Dementia with his step mother and sister-in-law, Michael pioneered and coordinated research in the application of CranioSacral to Dementia and Alzheimer’s disease, and served as a consultant for a study which was published in the American Journal of Gerontological Nursing, as well as ongoing research in this area. He is here to share treatment protocol and outcomes for clients suffering with this disease.

Tessa Burns Martin, Owner of Serenity Now Wellness Centre, Registered Psychologist

 

Tessa began her career at the University of Calgary. Completing her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, she started to work with children with learning disabilities. She chose to continue her education, and obtained a Masters Degree in Counselling Psychology at Campus Alberta – a collaborative program with the University of Calgary, University of Lethbridge and Athabasca University.

Serenity Now Wellness Centre is an integrative clinic that approaches psychology from a holistic point of view. Neural and Visceral Manipulation for Infants with Torticollis and Plagiocephaly

Neural and visceral manipulation has been used to effectively treat infants with congenital muscular torticollis (CMT) and deformational plagiocephaly (DP) without causing obvious discomfort.  In this session, NM/VM will be described generally, then specifically in regards to infants with CMT and plagiocephaly. Assessment and treatment of specific structures including the viscera, peripheral nerves, cranial nerves and their relationship with cranial structures will be described, as well as research and a video of a case study.

New Foundations for Concussion Recovery: Lecture & Live Q&A

In this presentation, we will:

   A. Present our findings and outcomes from the Concussion Research Project sponsored by the Barral and Upledger Institutes. 

   B.  Describe the premise and clinical reasoning for a whole body approach for the post concussive patient. 

   C.  Identify how specific manual therapy techniques can enhance our treatment outcomes for concussive injuries and their related symptoms. 

   D.  Understand the connections between our organs, emotions, pain and trauma of the concussed patient.

Koa has been immersed deeply in the world of CranioSacral therapy since 2011, opening her own private practice in 2016.  For the last decade, she has also worked professionally as a photographer and writer, inspired by the beauty and resilience of the human spirit and natural world.  She weaves her devotion through textile arts, tea ceremony, music and dance.

Her healing work is particularly effective for empaths, intuitives, and HSP’s (highly sensitive people) as so much of her work tends to the (oft neglected) subtle body. She has trained extensively with the Dynamic Stillness School, Body Oriented Healing Arts, Touch of Presence School for Biodynamic Studies, and Peirsman Craniosacral.

Dr. D'Ambrogio is an internationally recognized lecturer, author, physical therapist, osteopath and board certified acupuncture physician. He is the President and Director of the D'Ambrogio Institute (DAI) and Therapeutic Systems, Inc. (TSI).

He graduated from the Physical Therapy program at the University of Toronto, Canada, the Osteopathic program at the Canadian Academy of Osteopathy in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada, The John Wernham College of Classical Osteopathy in Maidstone England and the Acupuncture program at the Academy of Chinese Healing Arts in Sarasota, Florida, USA. His unique approach follows several schools of thought. His background in manual therapy includes: Maitland, Kaltenborn, Cyriax, McKenzie, Norwegian approach, and Osteopathy (Muscle Energy, Strain/Counterstrain, Myofascial Release, Craniosacral/Cranial Osteopathy, Visceral Manipulation, and Classical Osteopathy among others). Dr. D'Ambrogio also has a background in Applied Kinesiology, Orthotics, Muscle Imbalance and a variety of exercise and movement therapies (Janda, Somatics, Florence Kendal, Shirley Sahrman and the Norwegian approach, among others).

Quite Literally, Going with the Flow

In this talk, I will be sharing about how my own healing journey led me to CranioSacral work and becoming a CranioSacral practitioner. I will tell you about how my experience as an oceanographer has flowed so nicely into this beautiful form of bodywork. And I will talk about how the Peirsman Craniosacral has played such a vital role in my unfolding and continued evolution as a person and as a healer.

 

Ellen Smith is a healer with deep reverence for life who specializes in connecting with others through CranioSacral work. She is excellent at creating and holding space for others to experience their own embodiment and journey of self-healing. Her cranio motto is: ‘Connect. Heal. Thrive’. This 25 minute gentle, Vedic Yoga class will focus on breathwork and slow, flowing movements to tune into your midline and invite fluidity into the body. Slow, meditative, and juicy! All levels welcome.

Logan has been an Ayurvedic Practitioner for 12 years. She started studying with Dr. Vasant Lad, at the Ayurvedic Institute in Albuquerque, NM, after becoming a certified yoga teacher in Asheville, NC in 2006. 

 

Logan's joy and genius comes from combining the awareness of the body, mind, and soul to help people change their lives from mundane to joyful.  She coaches clients on mindset shifts to create higher vibrations in their belief systems and attract the lives they truly desire from a soul level.  Her Vedic Yoga Style comes from the combination of combining her training in Yin, Vinayasa, Kundalini, and AyurYoga together to create an intuitive practice full of exploration and release.

Exploring Somatics & Mindfulness via Hakomi Therapy

In this interview, Matt Foley shares the basic principles of somatics and mindfulness through the lens of Hakumi Therap, and it's ability to weave with CranioSacral and other forms of bodywork that increase somatic awareness.

Matt is a licensed psychotherapist who specializes in somatic and mindfulness based therapy. Matt helps clients discover a  grounded presence that transcends and embodies the self, and offers space for healing psychological wounding and trauma. Matt works with individuals and couples and draws from neuroscience, attachment theory, transpersonal and relational psychology. Certified in Hakomi Therapy, he works in private practice in San Francisco and Marin. He is an avid drummer and lives with his wife and son in the Bay Area.

CranioSacral in Medically Fragile Infants

In this interview Elana shares her incredible work with medically fragile infants.

 

Elana has been a Pediatric Occupational Therapist since 1980, with specialization in Biodynamic and Biomechanical CranioSacral with infants following training with John Barnes; the Upledger Institute; Regi Boehme since 1987; The Barral Institute 1996;  Michael Shea  2001; and numerous Osteopaths. Training as a Midwife assisting in over 100 births and 300 newborn exams in 1993.  

 

Extensive training including  movement assessment & facilitation, sensory intregration, visceral & neural manipulation, lymphatic  drainage, meridian balancing, jin shin jyutsu, myofascial release and currently studying medicinal plant oils/hydrolsols/essences. Santa Fe resident since 1993. Mother since 1998.
